    Hello,

I'm currently designing a website for unsigned bands and individuals to upload/submit their music in mp3 format for visitors to play the music on the site (streaming audio). There are no plans at the moment for visitors to download or record the music (within my control). My question is: as a website, does there need to be any licensing or a statement for CC at the website or is this the responsibility of the musician that is submitting the music? Should I just recommend them to license their work when registering?

I noticed when I registered here I had to check: "IMPORTANT copyright information: All content submitted to this forum is released under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License. By checking the following box you agree to this condition of use. If you are not willing to release all content you submit to this forum under this license then you should not register.
I agree to release everything I submit to this forum under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License." Can I implement something like this?

Thank you for steering me in the right direction

thew best thing to do is check out some of the other sites. heaps of sites online that use creative commons licenses.

    http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Audio#Featured_Audio_Sites

see how they do what they do.

you might want to consider that when artists are members of rights organizations in the US, they are able to license what they create as they choose. Artists that are members of a rights organizations outside the US, "are supposed to" license what they create within the terms of the contract of that rights organizations. Myspace get around it as they are popular, yet if your site is based in Europe, it might be worth creating some information to let the artists that upload know a little about the contract that they may or may not have signed.

Here it is, http://www.garagesongs.com it went live less than a month ago. I used the license chooser.js for members to select their license. I hope unsigned bands find garagesongs.com useful.

    Thanks!

Edit: Ok I tried to add it to the list in the cc wiki but it states editing has been locked?

Hi Jarvey, where did you attempt to add to the CC Wiki? Were you logged in with a confirmed email address?

The right place to add is probably via the form at http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Content_Directories

    Congrats on going live!
